We are excited to invite you to submit a proposal for art to be included in a collection of artworks that will be on permanent display at the new Kindlewood Apartments in Charlottesville, VA.
30 artworks ranging in size from 14x14 to 48x48 and two murals will be chosen by the Charlottesville Public Housing Associate of Residents and the Charlottesville Black Arts Collective.
Themes to be considered for the artwork submitted are, togetherness, support, growth, joy, and inclusivity. Kindlewood is a community striving to create a positive and welcoming environment for all its members and would like the artwork on its walls to be reflective of this.
You may submit a single or multiple proposals in the form of full color sketches, mock-ups drawn by hand/digitally or finished pieces. Any mock-ups must be a close representation of the final artwork and must include final size and medium.
Artwork will be purchased for between $650.00 and $6,000.00 depending on size and location of work.

We are excited to invite Black artists to submit their work for Home, an upcoming fine arts exhibition that seeks to explore the rich and diverse meanings of "home" in Black communities. Whether it's a physical space, a cultural identity, or an emotional state, we want to showcase how the concept of home resonates within our lives, memories, and futures.
"Home" can be interpreted in countless ways - a place of belonging, a space of safety and warmth, a reflection of identity. We welcome artists to bring their own unique perspectives to this theme through various mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, and more. We are looking for work that speaks authentically to your experiences.
Self-identified Black artists are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to artists living in Charlottesville, Virginia and the surrounding counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and Orange. However, artists outside of Virginia will be seriously considered.
Deadline to apply: Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 11:59PM EST. Selected artists will be contacted by February 21, 2025.
